SCAA Education Program

Just as prevention is better than cure, education and awareness are the key to improving the long term health and welfare of companion animals in China and elsewhere.

From pet care basics to how the welfare of animals reflects the values of our community as a whole - how people, animals and our environment are interconnected, is the root of SCAA's education message.
SCAA Kittens Star in Bilingual PAW Pet Care Video

Dr James and Dr Terry demonstrate a kitten health check and discuss what our cats need now and in the future to be healthy and happy pets.

From basics of nutrition, to parasite control, vaccinations, spay/neuter and providing cats with an enriching and safe indoor environment, SCAA and PAW hopes pet owners and prospective adopters find this short video helpful in managing cat care needs.

SCAA School Visits

From kindergarten to secondary school, from projects, fundraising, to career days, SCAA is pleased to have the opportunity to meet future animal advocates interested in learning about what animals need and how they can help improve the welfare of companion animals in their community.

SCAA Adult Education Seminar on Human and Pet Health for Tzu Chi

SCAA is happy to partner with other non-profit organizations and charities to promote the benefits of the human-animal bond and the connection between animal and human welfare.  Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation is an international non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian organization with four major missions: charity, medicine, education, and humanistic culture. The foundation also engages in international disaster relief, bone marrow donation, community volunteerism, and environmental protection.  In Shanghai, Tzu Chi have over 50,000 members.

In the Fall of 2013, SCAA partnered with Tzu Chi to deliver a seminar on human and pet health, the importance and long term benefits to investing in our pet's health to maintain a healthy family home environment.  Thanks to SCAA adopter and supporter Dr Angeline Lok, M.D. of Delta Health clinics, for her insightful lecture on pet and human health issues, zoonotic disease (diseases contagious between people and animals), and common misconceptions about the health risks associated with pet ownership.
