SCAA Adoption Days are private events exclusively for SCAA foster animals surrendered to SCAA for fostering, veterinary care (discounted by our vet partner PAW), and adoption.

We regret this event is not open to individual rescuers in Shanghai to bring their rescued animals. SCAA's investment in our animals is significant and re-homing them is our focus.

We hold Adoption Days once a month, on a Sunday afternoon from 13:00 - 15:00 at Mad Dragon by Shanghai Brewery [20 Donghu road near Middle Huai Hai road. Only adoptable (i.e. healthy) foster animals attend, but some cats and dogs may miss an event.
Adoption Day is the best opportunity to meet our healthy & happy rescues looking for a forever home. Foster parents and SCAA staff are on hand to discuss each animal's needs, and adoption profiles are posted to give potential adopters a good idea of how well-suited a particular animal is to their home environment, schedule, and pet preferences.

Meeting at a busy public event can be stressful for the cats especially, however Adoption Days are a necessary activity in the best interest of the foster animals. SCAA kindly asks:

Adoptions outside of adoption days
As we rely on our team of volunteer foster parents to care for our animals in the comfort & safety of their own home while we prepare pets for adoption, a particular cat or dog could be living far from potential adopters and with foster parents with vastly different schedules. Logistics required to organize SCAA staff, foster parents, and potential adopters coming together means last minute requests can be challenging. We'll do our best to offer meeting opportunities convenient for everyone.
Adoptions outside of Adoption Day can be arranged with advance notice and a completed pre-adoption questionnaire (available for download on the Adopt a Pet page) to begin the process.
