helping people help animals since 2005
SCAA relies on and greatly appreciates the support of animal-lovers around the world to continue our work helping rescued companion animals as well as fostering compassion for animals and community awareness of the benefits of the human-animal bond.

We rely 100% on donations.  There are many ways to help SCAA make a difference and we gratefully acknowledge donations (unless donors request anonymity) in our newsletters and online.

Whether you're in Shanghai, another city in China, in Asia, or overseas, there are many ways to support SCAA's work. Our monthly discounted PAW vet care costs for foster animals average RMB 12,000 - RMB 15,000, by far SCAA's biggest operating cost.  With several cases of feline stomatitis requiring dental surgeries and high cost cases of injured and severely ill rescues, SCAA's 2017 first financial quarter care costs were RMB 80,000.

Additional administrative costs include transportation for Adoption Days and foster animals moves, website domain name and newsletter management, and a small salary payment (under $500 / month) for SCAA's Executive Director.

Donors transferring funds via WeChat please add a Note with your name in the transfer as WeChat's Instant Scan Payment feature does not identify the sender. Avoid your donation remaining anonymous (unless donors prefer to remain so).

For transfers to the Bank of China multi-currency account for SCAA funds please contact donate@scaashanghai.org for account and transfer details.

*** IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT TAX RECEIPTS*** Please note that although SCAA is not a registered entity in Mainland China (the regulations for NGOs and NPOs are extremely challenging), SCAA's vet partner offers official PRC tax invoices (a "fa piao" for veterinary services) for funds wire transferred to PAW to be credited to SCAA's ongoing account.

SCAA may also arrange these tax invoices for veterinary services on behalf of donors for cash contributions of RMB1,000 or more. Unofficial receipts from SCAA are available on request.

Because SCAA doesn't have a shelter (by choice), we don't have operating costs like rent, utilities, food, and litter.  Foster parents generously provide their SCAA foster cat or dog with daily necessities while SCAA is responsible for the animals' ongoing veterinary care.

The most helpful non-cash donations are the safe and reliable veterinary products that we need and use for all foster animals. Donating these vet care products helps us reduce our care costs.  In-demand items that cost SCAA money for every foster cat and dog are listed below.

Additional wish-list items include imported products available overseas that help reduce anxiety - something rescued animals experience all-too-regularly.
