Adoptable SCAA cats & kittens
Adoptable means an animal has received at least the vet care basics of health checks, parasite control, vaccinations, and spay / neuter (or subsidy for future surgery). Rescues generally require more intensive test & treatment to be healthy enough to even begin vaccinations. During their time in foster care SCAA & our vet partner PAW do our best to address all medical issues.
From a behavior perspective, kittens are toilet trained from an early age, while puppies take more time. Foster animals can be highly social and confident with everyone, or take time to trust a limited circle of people. Fosters awaiting adoption have demonstrated they'll make a good pet for a well-matched home.

health
Cats have Drontal and Advocate or Revolution for parasite control. They receive Tri-Cat (or Fel-O-Vax) + Rabies vaccinations. We spay / neuter kittens around 6 months of age. Most foster cats are microchipped for export.

behavior & temperament
Foster parents help our indoors-only cats develop into great pets. Foster homes allow rescues to grow into their own personality, so SCAA can help adopters find a great pet suited to their home environment.

meet the fosters
Please take the time to review the brief information on SCAA foster cats' rescue story, healthcare history, and their personality & preferences. Where SCAA states bonded cats are a pair, we might not separate them for adoption:
Maggie & her brother Jake (adopted) were stashed safely under the kitchen cabinets in an empty apartment by their wild mum. The babies were rescued just in time as the house was being packed & locked up by movers. Maggie loves to snuggle and patiently waits for you to be on the bed or the sofa. Towering above her still makes her nervous. Maggie loves other cats. She insistently makes friends with them, no matter their initial objections. Maggie is no single cat.

Charlie is a sweet & playful (game of fetch anyone?) ball of anxiety! He loves to nap in the sun, snuggling up in a tight ball against his foster mom, and enjoys being around people. Charlie has been fostered on his own a long time after happily being with other cats. Re-introducing him to feline friends didn't work out - Charlie prefers to be the center of attention and isn't into sharing. He may be high strung, but Charlie is a great cat companion for patient pet owners.

PAVAROTTI male > 6 months
NEEDY | CHATTY | 2nd CAT ONLY | LAP CAT | SHY
Pavarotti was a wee lad around 3.5 months old when found screaming under the foundation of a building. His mum must have kept her litter there before deciding they were big enough to be on their own. Pavarotti was the last one left & very distressed. He's quieter now - just talkative! He adores other cats. A cuddly lap cat, he takes a while to get that way with new people.

Pair / Second or Single Cat / Family
Calico and her sisters were rescued as starving babies and all four sisters turned into amazing adult cats. Calico shows characteristic tri-color cat confidence, shares space with other cats, and is very dog-friendly. A lovely addition to any forever home as a pair with her sister or second pet.

Pair / Second or Single Cat / Family
Tabby (Calico's sister) has grown into a happy, playful, friendly, and patient pet - mentoring many little kittens in her (long) time in foster care. She's dog-friendly too. An ideal pair with Calico, second cat / second pet, or on her own as the feline focus of her adopters' attention.
