SCAA’s Adoption and Sterilization Agreement
stipulates that all SCAA animals must continue to receive Western-standard vet care.
Western-standard vet care means care provided by a properly trained veterinarian with a Western University veterinary science degree. At a minimum, the vet caring for your adopted animal should have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc.) or equivalent Western degree.
Local vet training and licensing standards are inadequate. Veterinary technician / assistant training also does not meet Western vet care standards.
