About Second Chance Animal Aid
SCAA is a private, non-profit organization committed to protecting and improving the health and welfare of companion animals through education, health care, advocacy, outreach, adoption and the promotion of foster care as an alternative approach to traditional shelters. We believe it is the right of every companion animal to have a safe, healthy life in a loving home. Mission Statement, Policy Statement
SCAA was founded by Carol A. Wolfson in 2005. Ms. Wolfson is an international business consultant who has been involved with children and animal charities in Asia throughout the 25 years she has worked in the region. She was on the fundraising board of WWF in HK and helped create/edit their members’ magazine from 1991-2001. She has served on the Worldwide Board of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) 2002-2005 and currently raises funds for IFAW’s projects in China. Like all animal lovers in Shanghai, she is extremely concerned about the plight of homeless and mistreated companion animals and believes that through SCAA’s support of worthy existing local projects/organizations and the education of the public and young people, both the expatriate and local community can save many more of Shanghai’s domestic animals from lives of abandonment, suffering and death. But WE NEED YOUR HELP!
One of SCAA’s primary initiatives is securing foster parents to take care of homeless animals (SCAA pays for all medical care but appreciates donations when possible by foster parents) until we can find these animals loving, permanent homes. We are always in desperate need of new foster parents, especially as the organization becomes better known and we are requested to foster increasing number of animals.
We are very grateful to our current foster parents who generously donate their time, energy, funds and love to care for these animals in need.
